SureGrip

John L. Wintz founded Sure-Grip in Southern California in 1937 after developing a phenolic wheel with a rubber inlay. That component-making background still helps explain the breadth of the brand: alongside complete skates, its catalogue includes plates, trucks, wheels, bearings and replacement parts.

Boardwalk is an outdoor-focused suede-boot package, while the wider Sure-Grip range offers wheels for different floors and skating styles. The manufacturer’s Boardwalk Plus package uses 62mm, 78A outdoor wheels; Fame wheels are a separate 57mm, 95A option for smooth or indoor surfaces. A familiar boot name does not by itself tell you which wheels or plate are fitted.

An Avanti plate, a replacement truck and a complete Boardwalk skate are different purchases. Avanti Aluminum, for example, has its own fixed-pivot double-action trucks and supplied mounting hardware. Before ordering a component, identify the existing plate and check the parts included; a shared Sure-Grip name does not make every truck, cushion or toe stop interchangeable.

Sure-Grip specifically lists a padded liner and rolled collar for Boardwalk Plus. Both current package descriptions include suede boots, stitched soles and Rock nylon plates. Compare the exact boot description and fitted wheels on the listing you are buying: stock and model updates can vary, so the name or colour alone is not a reliable way to infer an unlined interior or a particular wheel setup.
